Project Coordinator


Department: Project Management
Reports To: Vice President, Facade Operations

Overview:

Northern Architectural Systems (NAS) is looking for a Project Coordinator, who possesses an understanding of engineering concepts, to assist in developing, managing and maintaining relationships with our key customers and clients. The Project Coordinator will be cross trained within NAS to understand and perform the basic functions in each department.

The Project Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that customer queries, projects and issues are dealt with efficiently and in a professional manner. Each Project Coordinator will establish and sustain relationships with multiple customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Liaise with all internal departments to understand customer projects, their status and issues relating to projects.
  • Be the personal and central contact point for all customer inquiries.
  • Maintain a complete understanding of all projects and queries relating to that customer.
  • The Project Coordinator will work with the sales teams to understand the flow of work from customers.
  • Read and understand work orders, shop drawings, pick tickets, routings, schedules, material labels, part drawings, and inspection data records.
  • Develop a working knowledge of the capabilities for aluminum, plastics, gaskets, glazing and other materials associated with the business
  • Understand process flows within NAS though each department
  • Take appropriate measures to ensure all orders are completed in production, according to quality and technical specifications.

It Is Also Expected That The Project Coordinator Has a Basic Understanding Of NAS In Order To:

  • Manage day to day revisions and communicate changes across formats and departments.
  • Assist in maintaining physical and electronic folders and records related to order confirmation, material allocation, projects and order production with the factory.
  • Read a bill of materials (BOM) for Purchasing and Production departments.
  • Be communicative in offering suggestions on changes for documentation, specifications and/or anything related with the BOM Bill of Materials, orders and confirmations.
  • Provide clerical input as required for the monthly reporting progress / scheduling and assist in quarterly forecasting

Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree
  • 0 to 3 years work experience in manufacturing or a similar environment
  • Fluency with MS Office Suite, primarily in Excel
  • Strong numerical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Basic AutoCAD skills – 2D & 3D / Fusion 360 / SOLIDWORKS
  • A familiarity with manufacturing operations and data entry
  • Project management experience
  • An ability to read fabrication drawings and familiarity with basic measurement methods
  • A familiarity with architectural drawings
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, displaying strong written and oral communications
  • A desire for personal and professional growth, keeping their knowledge and skills current

AutoCAD Drafter

Reports To: Senior Design Engineer

Overview:

We are looking to fulfill our need for an AutoCAD Drafter at our Teterboro facility. This person will be responsible for assisting in the creation and/or revisions to shop drawings as well as other technical drawings as assigned and keeping all drawings up to date and organized. The AutoCAD Drafter must possess exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills while being results-driven with exceptional computer skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Accountable for generating drawings according to the requirements provided by the senior designer and/or client
  • Must be able to create both two and three-dimensional drawings
  • Responsible for incorporating changes or modifications according to the suggestions of the senior designer and/or client
  • Must possess the ability to generate computer based drawings using AutoCAD
  • Responsible for all 3D Printing
  • Ensure timely completion of all allocated projects
  • Provide clear communications in regard to the status of each project
  • Liaison between the design team and engineers to gain insight into the project
  • Responsible for the creation of a detailed visual representation to be used for approvals
  • Maintain CAD drawing library

Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school
  • 0 to 3 years years of experience as an AutoCAD Drafter
  • Fluency with AutoCAD
  • A familiarity with SketchUp, Fusion and 3D printing a plus
  • Fluent in MS Office

Forklift Driver


Department: Production
Reports To: Department Manager

Overview:

We are looking to fulfill our need for a Material Handler/Forklift Operator at our Teterboro, NJ facility. This person will be responsible for handling material and operating the forklift with extreme care to ensure efficiency and safety. We are looking for this individual to have experience handling fragile material such as glass.
Full-time position
Hours: 7 am – 3:30 pm (Monday – Friday) OT when needed.
Applicants from NJ with their own reliable transportation preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Responsible for offloading glass and aluminum shipments from trucks.
  • Transport materials to production workstations when required
  • Responsible handling of fragile materials
  • Hands-on
  • Ensure all materials are delivered to the correct location and properly stored.
  • Responsible for the removal of scrap material.
  • Perform daily equipment checks
  • Operate forklifts with a boom attachment
  • Maintain a clean, safe environment

Requirements:

  • Miniumum of a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Forklift certified as per OSHA standards
  • Prior window industry experience is a plus
  • Exterience with non-palletized loads a plus
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly

Safety Officer


Department: Safety
Reports To: Director Manufacturing

Overview:

We are looking to fulfill our need for a Safety Officer at our Teterboro facility. This role will be responsible for overseeing both of our manufacturing facilities in Teterboro, NJ and Carlstadt, NJ. This individual must be knowledgeable in OSHA standards and conducting risk assessment and enforcing preventative measures. The Safety Officer must possess exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Applicants from NJ with their own reliable transportation preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

  • Establish a safe workplace according to OSHA slip, trip and fall standards and promote a culture of attention to health and safety.
  • Advise and instruct on various safety-related topics (hearing conservation, eye protection, etc.).
  • Continually review existing policies to ensure they are up-to-date with today’s standards and legislation.
  • Update and maintain all necessary OSHA forms, reports and files.
  • Ensure the Safety Data Sheets (SDS) manual is current.
  • Develop and implement safety improvement policies and training.
  • Inspect forklifts, power jacks and other machinery on the manufacturing floor for defects. Communicate with vendors for necessary repairs.
  • Inspect the premises and personnel to identify any issues or non-conformity of safety procedures (not using protective eye wear, ear plugs, hard hats, etc.)
  • Knowledgeable in fire safety and inspections.
  • Ensure adequate first aid supplies are available at all times.
  • Oversee installations, disposal of substances, etc.
  • Immediately stop any unsafe acts or processes which potentially could be dangerous.
  • Record and investigate incidents to determine causes and complete all necessary reports.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Safety Officer
  • Expert in OSHA slip, trip and fall standards and practices
  • Train the Trainer course(s) a plus
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Knowledge of potentially hazardous materials and practices
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, displaying strong written and oral communications
  • Computer literate and working knowledge of MS Office
  • The ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Bilingual a plus (Spanish/English)
